San Diego dumpster permit: Information Bulletin 718

The City of San Diego requires a Traffic Control Permit for a storage container or dumpster placed anywhere in the public right-of-way, sidewalk included. A container in a private driveway does not need one.

  per parking meter, per day, if meters are blocked

Where it can't go

• In front of a red, white or blue curb
• Closer than 15 feet to a fire hydrant
• Closer than 25 feet to an alley or a curb return (the corner)

No-parking signs have to be up 72 hours before the container is delivered.
